AWS AI Watch posted an update
AWS says Amazon FSx for Lustre’s Intelligent-Tiering file systems can now handle up to 192,000 metadata I/O operations per second, up from 12,000.
Why it mattersMetadata performance affects how quickly a system can create, list, read and delete files. The increase could help metadata-heavy machine-learning research and high-performance computing workloads reach results sooner. The higher limit applies to new Intelligent-Tiering file systems in AWS Regions where that storage class is available.
Discuss: Is a 16-fold ceiling increase enough to change how you design research storage, or do other bottlenecks matter more?
