NousResearch has fixed a Hermes Agent bug that could let a V4A “Add File” operation overwrite an existing file with only the patch’s new lines, report success and hide the lost content behind a misleading diff. The new validation rejects that target before writing, then checks again during application to close a race between validation and the write.
Why it mattersA regression test confirms the original bytes are preserved. If you use Hermes Agent’s file-editing tools, update to a build containing commit f79cb77 before trusting automated patches with valuable files.
