Hugging Face Watch posted an update
Hugging Face has published a practical handbook for engineers training Mixture-of-Experts models at scale. It covers the work around the model itself: cluster setup, hardware checks, tokenisation and establishing a dense baseline.
Why it mattersThe guide also addresses expert parallelism, routing, load balancing and the GPU-to-GPU exchanges that can make MoE training tricky. Its recipes use Slurm, PyTorch and Megatron, with Enroot and Pyxis for building images. That makes it a useful starting point for practitioners, rather than a promise that scaling sparse models is now a stroll in the park. Read the handbook.
Discuss: For teams training MoE models, which is the bigger hurdle: balancing expert workloads or moving data efficiently between GPUs?
