Doosan is expanding copper-clad laminate production in Changshu, China, with new lines expected to start operating in the second half of 2028. The project is part of a 970 billion-won investment plan and adds manufacturing capacity for a material used in advanced chips, AI servers and smartphones.
Why it mattersWhat happened The Korea Times reports that Doosan signed an investment agreement with Changshu authorities for a 185,000-square-metre site near its existing factory. About 550 billion won of the wider investment plan is allocated to China, with spending scheduled in stages through 2028. Doosan has operated a copper-clad laminate factory in Changshu since 2012. The company says the new production lines will begin operating sequentially in the second half of 2028. The expansion sits alongside planned investment in South Korea and Thailand as Doosan builds a wider production network. Why it matters
Discuss: Should AI hardware coverage pay more attention to materials and manufacturing capacity, or are chips and data-centre spending still the better measure of the boom?
