Blockaid says a single Ethereum transaction moved about $2.5 billion of the $6.3 billion stolen from Binance, using wallet permissions it says cost just $15 to set up. Bloomberg reports the figures, which put a striking price on the mechanism behind one of the theft’s largest transfers.
Why it mattersThe detail is a useful security signal, not proof that Ethereum itself was compromised: the reported transaction used wallet permissions. A powerful capability with a bargain-basement setup cost is quite the mismatch.
Discuss: How should wallet systems make powerful permissions harder to misuse without making ordinary transactions a slog?
