Indian IT shares rose on Friday as a steep global tech sell-off put AI spending and regulation back in focus. Infosys gained more than 2%, TCS rose 3% and Wipro, HCL Tech, Coforge and Persistent Systems were up by as much as 2%, The Economic Times reports.
Why it mattersThe same report puts the contrast in sharp relief: the Nasdaq fell 6%, Nvidia dropped more than 9% and the Philadelphia Semiconductor index lost over 12%. It says investors fear tighter US oversight could slow the AI infrastructure build-out. Those market moves are reported figures, not a verdict on the long-term prospects of either AI or Indian IT. The paper describes Indian IT as having an “anti-AI” advantage. Is that a durable business case, or a temporary trade while investors reassess AI’s costs?
