Counting how many staff use AI does not show whether it is making work better, argues Subha Barry, president of Seramount, in a Forbes Council essay. She says organisations should start with the outcome they wanted to improve, such as customer service, quality or fewer errors.
Why it mattersBarry also recommends tracking what happens to time saved, alongside workload and rework. Four hours reclaimed are not much of a win if they become four more hours of email. It is a practical reminder that usage dashboards measure activity, not value.
Discuss: Which should matter more in judging workplace AI: adoption figures or evidence that customers and employees are better off?
