A developer argues that coding harnesses should be chosen for the controls they provide, not the name on the tin. In an O’Reilly Radar article published on 6 November, they describe combining Claude Code for steering, Codex for isolated checks and Pi for managing a Python migration’s overall workflow.
Why it mattersThe author says that approach caught a subtle data-corruption bug missed in a single-session setup. It is one reported example, not proof that multi-tool workflows always win. Still, it makes a useful case for dividing up coding agents’ jobs instead of asking one session to steer, check and supervise itself.
Discuss: When using coding agents, would you trust one tool with the whole job, or split steering, verification and project management across separate tools?
