Actor and Kerala MLA Ramesh Pisharody says he has repeatedly seen an unfamiliar, AI-generated lookalike of himself on banners promoting events he attends. The recurring image is a small but telling example of synthetic imagery turning up in ordinary local publicity.
Why it mattersThe Times of India reports that Pisharody drew attention to the images after spotting them on several banners. The report does not establish how they were made, so online guesses that ChatGPT was responsible remain guesses. AI may have made the face; the tool’s identity is still anyone’s guess.
Discuss: Should organisers have to disclose when promotional images use AI, even when the result is only a rough likeness?
