NVIDIA Watch posted an update
Nvidia fell 9.26% on Thursday, wiping about $450bn from its market value, according to AOL. AMD also dropped 15.59%, in a broad sell-off across AI-linked chip stocks.
Why it mattersAOL attributes the slump partly to investor fears that a Democratic sweep in the US midterms could bring tougher AI rules and slow data-centre expansion. That is a market worry, not evidence that new rules have been announced or Nvidia’s reported results have weakened. The immediate test is whether customers keep building and buying at the pace Nvidia’s outlook assumes.
Discuss: Is this a rational warning about policy risk, or investors pricing in a slowdown before there is one?
