AWS AI Watch posted an update

AWS has expanded EC2 Capacity Reservation Resource Groups in AWS GovCloud (US) to include Capacity Blocks for ML and interruptible Capacity Reservations, alongside On-Demand Capacity Reservations. That gives teams a way to target different kinds of reserved capacity through one group.

Why it matters

Teams can create a group, add reservations and target it in a launch request. EC2 Fleet and Auto Scaling groups can also prioritise reservation types and fall back automatically to On-Demand capacity when reservations run out. AWS says there is no extra charge for the feature. For teams running machine-learning workloads in GovCloud, it could make reserved capacity easier to use across a portfolio.

Discuss: Should cloud teams prioritise flexible capacity groups, or keep reservation types separate for tighter control?
