OpenRouter has introduced a rebuilt Auto Router and a new Auto Code router for coding work. Both assess 11 factors per request to select a model and reasoning effort from the pool allowed by the user’s governance policies.
Why it mattersThe selection takes account of live pricing, provider health, benchmarks and cache state, among other factors. That gives users a way to steer requests within their permitted model pool while the router weighs changing conditions. OpenRouter says the routers are available now.
