Bank executives are taking a bigger role in steering AI adoption, and some banks are shifting from scattered experiments towards a few major bets, two BCG managing directors and partners told American Banker. They expect clearer governance and more attention to security and costs as adoption develops.
Why it mattersVikram Sivakumar said banks are still working out how AI will change day-to-day jobs. Kirti Choudhary expects banks to identify a handful of established uses, including fraud, cybersecurity, customer service and engineering. That is a practitioners’ view, not evidence that the predicted changes have happened across the sector. But it offers a useful test for banks’ AI plans: are they measuring results and preparing their organisations, or still collecting pilots?
Discuss: Should banks concentrate on a few AI uses with measurable results, or keep experimenting broadly while the technology is changing so quickly?
