Meta AI Watch posted an update
Meta has reportedly decided to stop using fruit-based codenames for its AI models, according to TokenPost, which cites people familiar with the decision. The examples include Watermelon, the internal name for Wonder Full, as well as Avocado and Mango for other models.
Why it mattersIt is a small change in the machinery of AI branding, not a shift in what the models can do. Still, the move suggests Meta thinks fruit labels no longer fit the way it wants to present its AI business.
Discuss: Do playful internal codenames help make AI projects memorable, or should companies prioritise names that explain what a model is for?
