Android now lets you set ChatGPT or Claude as your default assistant, but a hands-on comparison suggests neither quite dislodges Gemini from the top spot.
Why it mattersAndroid Police’s Haroun Adamu found ChatGPT strong at conversation and general questions, but unable to control the phone: it could not set an alarm, send a text or toggle the flashlight. Claude managed alarms and timers, and could add calendar events after permission was granted. Claude’s connectors can reach services including Gmail and Google Calendar, though they need setting up. Gemini still came out ahead for phone integration, handling tasks such as reminders and flashlight control. So the choice is less “which chatbot is cleverest?” and more “which one can actually do the thing I asked?”
