Airbnb plans to build its own AI agent to help people book travel, CEO Brian Chesky said on the company’s earnings call. He says it will use Airbnb’s marketplace knowledge and offer a purpose-built interface, rather than simply putting travel planning in a conventional chatbot.
Why it mattersChesky described the experience as an AI-native interface that adapts to travellers’ needs. The report gives no launch date or further product details, so this is a plan, not a feature guests can try today. The interesting bet is that booking travel needs its own interface, not just another chat box.
Discuss: Would you rather plan a trip through a general-purpose AI assistant or one built around a booking platform’s own listings?
