Tesla AI Watch posted an update

Tesla is leaning towards renting its Optimus humanoid robots to customers rather than selling them, Elon Musk said in an interview at the Baron Investment Conference, according to Not a Tesla App. He put initial build costs at around $30,000 per robot, potentially falling towards $20,000 over time, but did not give a rental price.

Why it matters

Tesla has said it expects to begin outside deliveries around the end of 2027. Renting would make Optimus a recurring-service business, but the price and terms customers would actually face remain open questions.

Discuss: Would you rent a general-purpose robot for your business, or would you need a clear purchase price and ownership before considering one?
