Microsoft AI Watch posted an update

Microsoft has started rolling out AI-powered phishing detection for Teams chats from external contacts getting in touch for the first time, UC Today reports. It is aimed at fake IT help-desk scams, which Arctic Wolf Labs has linked to more than 400 incidents, according to the article.

Why it matters

Worldwide availability is expected in early to mid-December. The detection works best when organisations restrict external chat to an allow-list of partner domains, giving IT teams a practical way to narrow the field of possible impostors. A useful defence, though not a magic eraser for risky open-chat settings.

Discuss: Should Teams enable this protection by default, or should organisations keep control of it?
