Qualcomm Watch posted an update
Google has bought nearly three million Qualcomm shares for about $548 million, according to The Information, citing a securities filing. The stake is less than half a per cent of Qualcomm, but gives Google exposure to a chipmaker seeking more business in AI data centres.
Why it mattersIt is a modest slice of Qualcomm, not a takeover or a change of control. Still, the investment puts a concrete price tag on Google’s interest in the company’s push beyond its established markets.
Discuss: Is a stake this small a meaningful vote of confidence in Qualcomm’s AI ambitions, or just a low-cost option for Google?
