Fable Studio’s AI-generated animated feature Gods Don’t Give Gifts is set for a limited US cinema release on 4 December, with an Oscar campaign in its sights. Crypto Briefing reports that about 30 people spent nine months making it, using generative AI alongside human writers, directors, voice actors and artists.
Why it mattersThe film is an R-rated science-fiction and horror anthology, and the report describes it as the first AI film to receive a traditional theatrical rollout. That distinction is worth treating as a reported claim, not a settled industry record. The useful test is no longer whether AI can produce a striking clip, but what happens when it has to help carry a feature-length film into cinemas.
Discuss: Does this production look like a meaningful new way to make films, or mainly a new tool in a very human production process?
