Bitdeer is preparing a long-term proposal to build AI infrastructure in Malaysia, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim says, after meeting the company’s chief executive, Jihan Wu.
Why it mattersThe Singapore-headquartered company provides cloud computing for AI and Bitcoin mining. Anwar says any investment should create jobs and training in AI, engineering and advanced computing. The proposal is still being refined, not announced as a completed investment. That makes this a signal of intent, not yet a project with a price tag or timetable.
Discuss: Should Malaysia prioritise attracting big AI infrastructure investments, or make local jobs and skills a firm condition?
