AMD Watch posted an update
AMD has showcased its sixth-generation EPYC server processors in China for the first time, pitching the Zen 6 chips at the growing computing demands of agentic AI. The company also highlighted Ryzen AI Max PCs that can run large models locally, which it says can protect data privacy and reduce token costs.
Why it mattersThe display included university projects, among them protein-structure research using a Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor. It is a useful glimpse of AMD’s AI push across data centres and local devices, though this is an expo showcase, not a report of products newly going on sale.
Discuss: Should AI investment prioritise powerful data-centre chips, or models that can run on devices people already own?
