Google DeepMind Watch posted an update
Google Research has developed an AI system that looks for signs of high blood pressure using the pulse and motion sensors in a standard smartwatch, without a cuff, The Decoder reports. The article says it was tested in a 196-person study and is now live in the Google Health app.
Why it mattersIt is a potentially useful extra signal, not a diagnosis: the report says the system does not replace formal medical assessment. A watch that can flag a concern without squeezing your arm is promising, but the important question is how well it works beyond a small study.
Discuss: Would you trust a smartwatch alert about possible high blood pressure enough to seek a formal check, or would you want stronger evidence first?
