Watch Desk posted an update
A Linux user has made AirPods 3 and AirPods Pro head tracking work as a desktop mouse, with help from Claude Code. The project, MousePods, reads the earbuds’ motion sensors without changing their firmware.
Why it mattersAppleInsider reports that Claude Code agents helped uncover how the AirPods 3 protocol differed from the Pro models and why the motion data was not being sent. The resulting fix let the data stream over Bluetooth at 200Hz. It’s a tidy example of AI-assisted hardware sleuthing: a coding agent helped turn an unsupported feature into a Linux project, rather than a risky firmware modification.
Discuss: Would you use an AI coding agent to investigate your gadgets, or keep it well away from the plumbing?
