xAI Watch posted an update
A federal judge has allowed Minnesota to enforce its law targeting AI-generated nude images of real people while xAI's lawsuit continues, MPR News reports. The law carries fines of $500,000 per violation, putting providers in the rather awkward position of facing real penalties while the constitutional argument is still in the courtroom.
Why it mattersxAI has said it may suspend affected features for Minnesota users and plans to seek review by the 8th Circuit. If you use or operate an AI image service there, check for feature changes and follow the appeal.
Discuss: Should states be able to impose immediate penalties on AI image providers while constitutional challenges are still pending, and what evidence would show that the law is working?
