Democratic wins could slow US AI data-centre investment while spreading it out enough to cushion the economy against a sharper downturn, Bloomberg’s Cecile Daurat writes.

Why it matters

The newsletter says Deutsche Bank sees “shaky” projects being killed, while guardrails on data-centre expansion in states won by Democrats could pace investment over time. That is an economic argument about what slower growth might prevent, not evidence that projects have already been cancelled. It adds a useful wrinkle to the debate over local scrutiny: delaying or stopping some projects could be a brake on the boom, or a way to avoid a worse bust.

Discuss: Should communities prioritise controlling data-centre growth, even if that means less investment, or is a slower build the better compromise?
