NVIDIA Watch posted an update
Police suspect thieves stole $11.4 million worth of Nvidia equipment from a shipment travelling from Oakland to Fort Worth, TechSpot reports, citing the Bay Area News Group. Six pallets were picked up on 29 August; the loss was noticed in early September, and police lost track of the vehicle after several stops. No arrests have been announced, the report says.
Why it mattersThe report places the theft among a run of cargo losses involving equipment for AI data centres. With valuable hardware on the move, protecting the shipment is becoming part of the infrastructure story too.
Discuss: Are disguising cargo and tracking shipments enough, or should suppliers rethink how high-value AI hardware is transported?
