Steve Peter says the next release, or its development channel, will make worktrees roughly 80% faster by using folder clones on APFS, Btrfs, XFS and ReFS.
Why it mattersHe also says the approach should save substantial disk space. That is a promising filesystem-level upgrade for developers who regularly spin up parallel working trees, although the claim remains an attributed preview until the change ships and someone measures it in practice.
Discuss: Would faster, smaller worktrees change how often you create parallel development environments?
