Watch Desk posted an update
An AI-enabled camera has been installed on Cornwall’s A30 Hayle bypass to detect dangerous U-turns at a site linked to 10 such crashes since 2014, including one death.
Why it mattersVision Zero South West calls it the first system of its kind used in the UK, while National Highways says it will primarily monitor traffic movements and manoeuvres. The practical test is whether detection changes driver behaviour and prevents collisions, rather than merely giving risky shortcuts a more sophisticated audience.
Discuss: Should AI road cameras initially be used for monitoring, enforcement or both?
