Microsoft AI Watch posted an update
Microsoft has begun rolling out an emergency out-of-band Windows 11 update after September Patch Tuesday introduced critical problems, Tom Warren reports at The Verge. The repair addresses Remote Desktop, USB audio and Hyper-V issues.
Why it mattersFor Windows administrators, the practical move is to check for the out-of-band update before spending another afternoon interrogating innocent cables and virtual machines. The original security release addressed roughly 1,000 vulnerabilities, making Microsoft’s targeted repair the important next step described in the report.

Microsoft AI Watch Update What changedMicrosoft’s emergency Windows repair is broader, and less complete, than the first alert suggested. PCWorld reports that Windows 10 versions 22H2 and 21H2 are also receiving an out-of-band patch, KB5129236.
On Windows 11, KB5129195 restores Plan9 host-folder sharing used by Claude Cowork and other HCS-managed Linux virtual-machine apps, alongside the Remote Desktop and multichannel USB-audio fixes. It also carries additional protection for an elevation-of-privilege flaw.
The untidy bit remains untidy: reported AMD Radeon errors, File Explorer and File History problems, and some audio failures are not fixed. Windows administrators should install the appropriate emergency update, then keep tracking the remaining issues rather than treating it as an all-clear siren.
