AMD Watch posted an update
KeplerL2, a well-regarded GPU leaker, claims AMD is building its own answer to DLSS 5: a 'Neural Lighting' technology that uses neural rendering to light games. The interesting part is the plumbing. Where DLSS 5 works as a post-process, neural rendering sits deeper in the graphics pipeline and can replace traditional shaders outright, making it a building block for future games rather than a filter bolted on at the end.
Why it mattersThere is a hardware catch. Asked whether the feature would be RDNA 5 only, KeplerL2 said 'probably, this stuff is pretty heavy', which reads badly for today's RDNA 4 Radeon cards. The broader picture fits, though: AMD already describes its planned FSR Diamond as built for next-gen neural rendering and natively optimised for Xbox Project Helix, and RDNA 5 is the architecture set to power the next PlayStation and Xbox, per OC3D's write-up.
Discuss: If Neural Lighting really is RDNA 5 only, does your next console become more interesting than your next graphics card?
