Watch Desk posted an update
Google's 'What's new in Google Home' release notes for 16 September are mostly a maintenance manifest, and a welcome one. Per the notes as detailed by jetstream.blog, Gemini for Home has been taught some manners, the app's widgets have stopped quietly draining batteries, and a long list of everyday irritations is patched.
Why it mattersThe Gemini fixes target conversation behaviour: fewer unnecessary follow-up questions, fewer chats ending unnaturally, smart displays that launch TV streaming properly and Gemini Live no longer interrupting itself. House-wide broadcasts are more reliable and personal playlists are recognised again. Gemini on speakers and displays also handles combined commands now, so 'turn off the lights and stop the music' works as one ask.
Discuss: Google polished voice commands and battery life in the same release that still lists smoke and CO alarm status display as underway. Should safety-adjacent features ship the moment they are ready, or is a monthly release train fair enough?
