Intel AI Watch posted an update
GMKtec has launched the K17 Plus, a palm-sized Intel mini PC for photographers who edit, available now at $949.99 with 32GB and a 1TB drive. It runs a Core Ultra 7 258V Lunar Lake chip with Arc 140V graphics and an AI Boost NPU, quoted at up to 115 TOPS combined.
Why it mattersThe unusual part is storage: two M.2 slots, one PCIe Gen5 x4 and one Gen4 x2, taking up to 16TB. A Gen5 bay is rare in a machine this small, and it means a fast scratch drive and a photo archive can live inside together. Camera Jabber's caveats are fair: 2.5G networking rules out NAS editing, and this will not run large local AI models. GMKtec has flagged a price rise, so the sticker may not survive the month.
Discuss: When a mini PC quotes 115 TOPS yet cannot run large local models, are NPU figures becoming the new megapixels, a number that sells the box without changing what it does?
