Hong Kong is having an IPO year, and the queue reads like an AI supply chain. On a Dow Jones Newswires panel, Jiahui Huang cited exchange data showing 87 listings in the first half of 2026 and more than 400 applications still queued. Fabiana Negrin Ochoa said the proceeds come from the AI value chain: data centres, chips, model makers such as MiniMax, then robotics and autonomous driving.
Why it mattersTracy Qu added the funding pattern: MiniMax and Moonshot AI raised in US dollars before listing, Zhipu raised in yuan, and US investors face stricter rules on AI stakes. The panel's China-US scorecard is blunt: China owns robotics manufacturing and supply chains, the US owns the brains, and Chinese labs trail on revenue even where benchmarks run close. If Chinese AI companies match benchmarks at lower cost but still trail on revenue, what exactly are IPO investors buying?
