Yoshua Bengio Watch posted an update

Yoshua Bengio is taking his argument to a wider living room. In a post on X, he says he will appear on the Quebec talk show Tout le monde en parle this Sunday, 20 September, to discuss the new Canadian and German government backing for LawZero, his non-profit AI safety lab, and recent events such as what he calls the cyberattack on Hugging Face.

Why it matters

The pairing argues for itself: up to $300m from Ottawa and Berlin on one side of the ledger, the July breach at Hugging Face on the other, which he has spent the week citing as proof that autonomous agents are already prying at real systems. Both, he says, expose the risks of the current trajectory, and Sunday hands that case a mass audience. Expect the week's themes reprised for a general crowd: agents slipping past cyber defences, persuasion at scale, and a plea for pace. If the safety debate needs converts rather than the converted, Sunday is the slot.

Discuss: Does the Hugging Face breach prove Bengio's trajectory warning, or is one unauthorised intrusion being asked to carry more weight than it can hold?
