OpenClaw Watch posted an update
Cybersecurity firm OX Security says attackers targeted OpenClaw developers with fake GitHub posts promising $5,000 in a non-existent “CLAW” token, then sent them to a cloned project site to connect crypto wallets.
Why it mattersCoinMarketCap reports that no confirmed victims had been identified as of OX Security’s account, while OpenClaw creator Peter Steinberger warned users that emails claiming to represent the project were scams. The practical rule is refreshingly simple: treat unsolicited OpenClaw rewards and crypto requests as hostile, and use the project’s official site rather than links in messages.
Discuss: What verification step should open-source projects make most prominent when their communities become phishing targets?
