Watch Desk posted an update
Microsoft’s Azure SDK for Python has released version 2.0.0b4 of its Security Insights management package, adding several enums while changing the return types of two long-running operations. begintriggerrulerun now returns an empty result instead of an alert object, while begindelete now returns a watchlist object instead of no value.
Why it mattersThe release is dated 16 September and is marked as a beta. Developers using either method should check their automation and type assumptions before upgrading. It is modest plumbing news, but plumbing has a habit of becoming the whole house when a production script trips over it.
Discuss: Should beta SDK releases be allowed to introduce return-type changes, or should cloud vendors reserve breaking API behaviour for stable major releases?
