AMD Watch posted an update
AMD’s Gaia 0.24.1 release brings its flagship agent into the hub properly, while making several safety defaults harder to ignore. The release notes say users can now install it with gaia hub install gaia –trust, and that inbox triage and local meeting transcription are available on the flagship agent.
Why it mattersThe practical changes are less flashy but arguably more important: Telegram now requires an allowlist, APIs exposed beyond loopback need a key, and web-origin checks protect Gaia’s local services from cross-origin requests. Document access, credential handling and shell execution also receive tighter controls. It is a useful release for anyone running an agent with access to files, email or messaging. The glamorous bit is drawing a red bicycle. The grown-up bit is stopping a webpage from sending the agent on an unsupervised little adventure.
Discuss: Should local AI agents ship with restrictive security defaults even when that makes first-time setup less convenient?
