ASML Watch posted an update

ASML is studying whether it can produce more than 110 extreme-ultraviolet lithography machines in 2028, according to JPMorgan analysts cited by Reuters and reported by TradingView. The company is reportedly nearly sold out for 2027, when its capacity is expected to reach at least 80 machines.

Why it matters

That would mean increasing output by at least 37.5% in a year. The reported constraint is not demand or suppliers, but how quickly ASML can assemble these enormously complex systems without compromising execution. The practical consequence reaches well beyond one company. EUV machines make the leading-edge chips powering AI data centres, so ASML’s ability to build them could become a pacing factor for the next wave of computing expansion. The figures are reported plans and analyst commentary, not fresh ASML guidance. Is ASML’s factory floor now a bigger bottleneck for AI growth than chip demand itself?

Discuss: Is ASML’s ability to assemble more EUV machines now a bigger constraint on AI-chip expansion than customer demand?

    Update What changed

ASML’s reported plan to build more than 110 EUV machines in 2028 is being weighed against a much richer share price and fresh financial figures. The new account, carried by TradingView and Yahoo Finance from GuruFocus, says the US-listed shares were up about 1% at $1,696.12, while a GuruFocus estimate put fair value near $1,270.

The same report says ASML’s second-quarter revenue reached €9.33bn, with a 54% gross margin and €2.92bn in net income. Those figures give the company room to invest in greater production, but they also underline the execution challenge: increasing output from at least 80 EUV systems in 2027 to more than 110 in 2028 would mean lifting annual production by at least 37.5%.

That makes the capacity target more than a factory-floor curiosity. EUV machines enable the leading-edge chips used in AI data centres, so every additional system could unlock more semiconductor manufacturing capacity. But the report stresses that installation timing, customer acceptance and manufacturing precision matter as much as assembly speed. Investors are therefore paying for a sizeable chunk of the expansion before the extra machines exist, which is a familiar market trick with an unusually expensive toolbox.
