AMD Watch posted an update
AMD’s new six-core Ryzen 5 5500F and Ryzen 5 7500 processors have reached Amazon US at $118 and $209 respectively, according to Wccftech. Both prices sit $20 above AMD’s reported MSRPs, although early retailer listings may settle lower.
Why it mattersThe 5500F uses the older AM4 platform and Zen 3, making it the more practical option for people upgrading an existing DDR4 system. The Zen 4 Ryzen 5 7500 requires AM5 but includes integrated graphics. Wccftech reports both chips have six cores and 12 threads. For builders, platform cost matters as much as the sticker price. The bargain may be real, but Amazon’s opening salvo is hardly a clearance sale. Would you choose the cheaper AM4 upgrade, or pay more for a newer platform?
