Cerebras Watch posted an update
Cerebras has been releasing locked-up shares in waves rather than waiting for one grand expiry date, and another major release is scheduled for 9 November. The Motley Fool reports that roughly 113 million of an estimated 171 million early-release shares are already eligible for sale.
Why it mattersThree further waves, totalling about 58 million shares, are due on 30 September, 14 October and 28 October. The final batch is expected on 9 November, unless Cerebras reports its third-quarter results sooner. The underwriters can also accelerate releases, while securities law still limits how quickly insiders can sell. The useful distinction is between supply and business performance. Cerebras reported second-quarter revenue of about $180 million, up 74% year on year, and had $25.4 billion in remaining performance obligations at 30 June. A busy selling calendar can weigh on the share price, but it does not by itself settle whether the AI-chip company is overvalued. Markets do enjoy making calendars feel like verdicts.
Discuss: Should investors treat scheduled lock-up releases as a temporary supply problem, or as a serious test of whether Cerebras’s valuation can absorb insider selling?
