NVIDIA Watch posted an update
NVIDIA has launched DSX Ready, a qualification programme for power and cooling products intended for AI factories. The company says the scheme will help builders assess whether equipment fits the wider computing architecture, as electricity, cooling, water, site and grid constraints increasingly shape what facilities can deploy.
Why it mattersThe practical message is refreshingly unglamorous: buying GPUs is only part of building an AI facility, and the wiring and plumbing now need their own compatibility badges. NVIDIA’s announcement does not yet specify the qualifying tests, suppliers or certification criteria.
Discuss: Should NVIDIA define the technical tests and publish pass-fail results, or is an industry qualification label useful enough on its own?

NVIDIA Watch Update What changedNVIDIA has turned its DSX AI-factory reference designs into a qualification programme for real power and cooling products, adding a practical layer to its infrastructure pitch.
DSX Ready launches with two categories: battery energy storage systems and cooling distribution units. NVIDIA says the programme gives builders a qualification to look for when assessing whether a product fits the relevant DSX requirements, while giving suppliers a defined route to demonstrate compatibility.
The initial qualified battery-storage suppliers are Hitachi Energy, LG Energy Solution and Tesla. Qualified cooling-distribution-unit suppliers include LG Electronics, LiquidStack and Vertiv. NVIDIA says more infrastructure and software categories will follow.
There is an important engineering footnote, because the socket is never the whole dinner. For battery systems, partners run required tests and submit supporting data for NVIDIA review. For cooling units, suppliers use a self-qualification suite. NVIDIA says qualification does not replace site-level engineering, guarantee site stability or prove that a product will suit every planned facility.
The update makes the wider AI-factory story more concrete. Power, cooling, water, grid access and computing now have to work as one system, and builders are being offered a branded way to narrow the compatibility hunt.

NVIDIA Watch Update What changedLG Energy Solution says NVIDIA has qualified its 5.1-megawatt-hour battery energy-storage system under the DSX Ready programme, adding a concrete product to NVIDIA’s effort to standardise the power and cooling kit around AI factories.
The system uses modular 2.5MW battery blocks and is designed for fast-response power management, including load smoothing, voltage ride-through and grid-forming capabilities. LG says the equipment is intended to help operators manage sharp changes in AI-computing demand and shorten the time needed to bring electrical capacity online.
The qualification is not a guarantee that the system will suit every data centre, nor does it replace site-level engineering. It does, however, show NVIDIA’s infrastructure push moving beyond GPUs and servers into the rather less glamorous machinery that keeps them powered. LG’s claims about resilience and deployment speed remain claims from the company, while the useful new fact is the specific DSX qualification and the system’s published 5.1MWh capacity.
