Intel’s rumoured Nova Lake desktop processors could reach 52 cores and a 474W boost power limit, according to MakeUseOf’s account of current leaks. That would make the flagship a remarkably thirsty proposition, particularly alongside a high-end graphics card.
Why it mattersMakeUseOf says the chips may also use a new LGA 1954 socket and introduce a large stacked-cache design. Those specifications are unconfirmed, and AMD’s Zen 6 power figures remain unknown, so this is a forecast rather than a benchmark result. The useful takeaway is less “52 cores good” than “check the plug socket”. For desktop buyers, efficiency, cooling and upgradeability may matter more than a heroic core-count headline. Would you choose Intel’s potential performance ceiling, or AMD’s likely lower-power platform?
