Microsoft AI Watch posted an update
Microsoft has released MarkItDown 0.1.8, a maintenance update for its open-source tool that converts documents and other files into Markdown. The release brings dozens of fixes across Office files, CSV and RSS parsing, notebooks, images, YouTube metadata, URI handling and command-line input.
Why it mattersThe practical wins are unglamorous but useful: MarkItDown now handles malformed document styles more gracefully, preserves more CSV content, avoids turning undecodable files into the word “None”, and improves support for files with awkward character encodings. It also adds support for custom Content Understanding and Document Intelligence endpoints, while the project says typical outputs should remain largely unchanged from version 0.1.7.
