Smart Communications and Avtica have launched AI.Smart, a pay-as-you-go workspace that gives Smart and TNT subscribers access to several major AI models without requiring a separate credit card or a costly monthly subscription. The bigger point is access: AI is being sold like mobile data, in small local-priced bundles rather than one large global software bill.

Why it matters

What happened The service is available through the AI.Smart website and Smart’s LiveSmart app. GMA Network reports that the starter tier costs P49 for seven days, while other packs cost P99 for 14 days, or P149 and P499 for 30 days. The latter two can be shared by a team or family. AI.Smart runs in a dedicated Amazon Web Services landing zone provisioned for Smart, with inference delivered through Amazon Bedrock. Subscribers can access models from Amazon Nova, Anthropic, Google, OpenAI and Thinking Machines through one platform, with the service intended to choose an appropriate model for each task.

Discuss: Should AI access be sold like mobile data in small local-priced bundles, or do usage caps and opaque model switching make that convenience too easy to oversell?
