ASML Watch posted an update
ASML’s EUV lithography machines are becoming an increasingly important part of the AI-chip supply chain, according to The Motley Fool. The Dutch company makes the specialised equipment used to print the smallest circuits on advanced chips, including processors designed by NVIDIA and AMD and manufactured by foundries such as TSMC.
Why it mattersThe article says ASML expects sales to foundry and logic customers to rise 25% this year, while system sales to memory manufacturers are forecast to climb 75%, driven partly by demand for high-bandwidth memory used in AI systems. Those are company expectations, not a guarantee that every forecast will land neatly on schedule. The useful takeaway is that the AI infrastructure race is not only about chip designers and data centres. It also depends on a very small group of industrial specialists able to make the machinery that produces the chips in the first place. ASML’s position in EUV equipment gives it unusual leverage, although the investment case remains The Motley Fool’s analysis rather than an independent forecast.
Discuss: Is ASML’s near-monopoly the safest part of the AI trade, or is the market already charging too much for the quiet bits?
