HeyPuter’s Builder is an open-source AI tool that lets people create, visually edit and publish websites and apps from plain-language descriptions, according to its GitHub project page.
Why it mattersThe Apache-licensed project bundles authentication, storage, databases, serverless functions and hosting through Puter.js, so users are not expected to assemble the usual small mountain of infrastructure before getting a page on the internet. That puts it in the same broad lane as Lovable, Replit and v0, but with the code and platform presented as an open-source alternative. The useful question is whether the integrated services make building simpler without quietly replacing one vendor lock-in with another wearing a friendlier hat.
Discuss: Do open-source AI builders genuinely widen access to software creation, or will the hard part remain checking and maintaining what the model produces?
