Simon Willison has released llm-typesafe 0.1a0, a plugin that lets people use TypeSafe AI’s Jev model through the LLM command-line tool. It is a practical bridge between Jev’s structured decisions and an existing developer workflow, rather than another chatbot competing for attention.
Why it mattersThe plugin supports yes-or-no “noul” questions, multiple-choice decisions and scoring questions. In Willison’s examples, Jev can judge whether a message explicitly requests a refund, route it to billing or technical support, and score how reproducible a bug report is. That makes the appeal fairly clear: send text to Jev, define the decision shape and receive structured output such as a probability or selected category. Developers still need to set the questions and criteria themselves, but they can now try the model from the command line after installing the plugin and configuring an API key. The small tool may be more useful than a grand product promise, which is an oddly healthy development for AI.
Discuss: Are structured decision models most useful as invisible plumbing inside software, or should they offer a user-facing experience of their own?
