Generative AI is already being used at work to summarise documents, draft correspondence, review contracts and analyse data, according to The Express Tribune. The practical risk is not futuristic office robots. It is employees uploading confidential material to external tools without knowing whether they are allowed to do so.
Why it mattersThe paper’s advice is straightforward: organisations should set clear rules on which systems staff may use, what information can be entered and what must stay away from public AI services. Safer alternatives include approved enterprise tools, controlled applications and privately hosted models for sensitive work. The guidance also stresses that AI-generated answers need human review, especially in law, medicine, finance, engineering and public administration. Useful technology, in other words, still requires someone to read the answer before it wanders into the world wearing a tie.
Discuss: Should employers ban staff from using public AI tools for work, or provide approved systems and trust people to follow clear data rules?
