Chamelio has raised $26m in a Series A to build AI tools for routine legal workflows, according to CTech. The company says its software is designed to handle standard cases and escalate only those requiring human judgement.
Why it mattersThe funding, backed by Entrée Capital, is a concrete signal that legal AI is moving beyond document chat towards workflow execution. That could reduce repetitive work, but it also makes escalation rules and oversight rather more important than the sales pitch suggests. The useful question is not whether software can process routine legal tasks. It is where the line between routine and consequential should be drawn, and who gets to redraw it when the system is wrong.
Discuss: Should legal AI be allowed to complete routine workflows automatically, or should a person approve every case until the systems have a stronger track record?
